A reminder that a campfire ban is now in place for the Cariboo as of July 31. Official details here.
A few storms again today in Central BC, but nothing at the lake. Today's high was again a misleading 24C, as most of the day was overcast and 15-20. About half of the new fires today are north of Revelstoke.
There are currently 21 fires listed as "Out of control" in the Cariboo.
New fires include:
Gotchen Lake - on the north end of the lake. No details yet.
Lang Lake - about 2km west of Lang. No details yet.
Existing notable fires:
Mt Hendrix - two of the five fires behind Mt Hendrix are now out. Two are listed as "Out of control" at 1ha and 1.5ha. No information on the third. No smoke visible.
Canim Lake - south of the lake up in the mountains. No new information, I suspect this is a small fire.
Horse Lake Rd - directly east of 100 Mile House, and north of Horse Lake. Only three fires remaining of this cluster of seven. No details on them.
Lac la Hache - all fires are out in this area.
Horsefly Lake - there are approximately 15 of the original 18 fires around the Horsefly & Quesnel Lake area still active. Only one still appears to be of note. It's on the north shore of Horsefly Lake, 526ha in size and now 50% contained. An evacuation order is in affect for the area.
