A mixed bag of storms in Central BC today. Some got lightning, while Hendrix Lake got heavy rain for about an hour late-morning, then hail & rain for about 20 minutes in the early afternoon. Light smoke before the rain, and has started to creep in a bit this evening. Today's high was 26C, but it was 15-19 for most of the day.
For those traveling, be aware that there was a mudslide today northwest of the Loon Lake Road, which closed highway 97. It is expected to re-open around 9pm today. Check DriveBC for the latest information. Note that this is a different slide than the one that occurred on Tuesday near the same location.
There are currently 25 fires listed as "Out of control" in the Cariboo.
New fires include:
No new fires of note
Existing notable fires:
Mt Hendrix - no new information on the five fires behind Mt Hendrix. No smoke visible, and I suspect today's rain took them out.
Canim Lake - south of the lake up in the mountains. No new information.
Horse Lake Rd - directly east of 100 Mile House, and north of Horse Lake. No details on any of this cluster of seven fires yet.
Lac la Hache - there are only a couple of fires remaining in this area. No details them.
Horsefly Lake - there are still approximately 18 fires around the Horsefly & Quesnel Lake area. Only one appears to be of note. It's on the north shore of Horsefly Lake, 500ha in size and 10% contained. An evacuation order is in affect for the area.
