Quick fire update - August 21, updated 9:30pm

Update to below: there is no fire right at Bosk Lake, and no smell of smoke in the area. As expected, the fire perimeter shown below does not reflect the true picture. Also, as of now, the perimeter is not being displayed on the site, though the size is still listed at 65ha.  Hopefully we'll get some clarity Wednesday morning


There is a new fire started today at Gotchen Lake near the Eureka Peak Lodge.  The fire is listed at 65 hectares, but the fire perimeter displayed on the map looks more like 1,000 ha. or more.

I'm not at the lake right now, but I just spoke to someone there and they haven't seen any smoke.  They might go to check out the fire tonight to see if it really is near Bosk Lake.  The Cariboo Emergency Center is off-line right now, so we may not get any new updates until tomorrow unless an evacuation alert or order is issued.

If you happen to be at the lake right now and get an evacuation order call in the next couple of days, take it seriously!
