Fire update - July 21

Cool temps again today in the Cariboo. A high of 17C today at the lake.  The Okanagan had highs in the mid-20s.  Temps in the low 30s are forecast to return there on Monday.

There is only one fire in the Cariboo that is currently "Out of control". That is a 21ha fire on the north side of Quesnel Lake.  It is not close to any populated area.

New fires include:

Very few new fires today, none of note.

Existing notable fires:

Walters Lake Rd - 3km south of Horsefly. This fire is out.

Elbow Lake - 1km N of Elbow. A 1.9ha fire is still 'being held'. Expect this one to go to 'Under control' or "Out" soon.

Mt. Eneas - 7km south of Peachland.  Remains at 1,375 hectares, evacuation orders are in place, though some have been downgraded to alerts.  More information here.

Goode's Creek - Okanagan Mtn Park again remains at 400ha.  Evacuation orders are in place, homes have been affected.

Mount Conkle - just NW of Penticton at 118 ha.  This fire is 90% machine & hand guarded with most of the fire also surrounded by hose.

All of the large Okanagan fires are still in "Out of control" status.

July 17-19:  64 new fires, 42 still active
All of May: 125 new fires, 8 still active
All of June: 178 new fires, 23 still active
All of July: 115 new fires, 66 still active
Current "Out of Control" fires: 34
