Much warmer than normal weather over the past couple of weeks has drastically reduced snow packs in the area and resulted in high water levels in the lakes & rivers. Hendrix Lake is as full as I've ever seen it. The beach at Bosk Lake is completely under water, and the picnic tables at the Crooked Lake rec site are sitting on the water's edge.
Almost all of the water has come from snow melt. There has been minimal rain so far this spring, most of it coming in just a couple of days in April. With no rain in the long-term forecast, we could be in for another dry summer.
The main gravel road is currently in terrible shape. It's riddled with potholes and still fairly soft in sections. Hopefully it will firm up enough for the grader to come through - they typically schedule the first grading just before the May long weekend, but will postpone if the road is too soft.
Regardless, there will be excellent weather for the long weekend. Pack bug spray, the mosquitoes are coming out in force during the evenings.
