Spring Travels - COVID warning

Now that spring is (finally) coming, people are starting to think about visiting the area.  Especially after being stuck inside for much of the past 6 weeks.  Just thought I'd throw out a list of info points and recommendations.

First and foremost, DON'T COME HERE.  Seriously.  If you don't need to be here, don't come.  Less traveling means less chances of spreading COVID.  Small communities have far less resources to deal with an outbreak, so a mass influx of vacationers is a recipe for disaster.

No one ever intends to do harm, but accidents do happen.  Unexpected bathroom breaks occur, car breakdowns/collisions, errant fish hooks, ATV-ing mishaps, mishandling an axe, allergic reactions, strokes.  All of these can unavoidably lead to unwanted contact with others and possibly involve a hospital visit.  Don't unnecessarily put others at risk.

If you do decide to ignore the above recommendation:
  • Limit your contact with others
  • Buy groceries and supplies before leaving your home town
  • Don't come into close contact with people you are not traveling with
  • If you become sick while here, do NOT go to 100 Mile for care unless it's an actual emergency.  Go home.  Don't come into contact with anyone else enroute.
  • Don't engage in any moderate to high risk activities
  • There is an increased risk of flood this year, and the spring melt has just started to reach low-lying areas.  Consult DriveBC for the latest on main roads.  Be cautious on back-roads.

FYI, the pictures on the previous post were taken before the stay-at-home recommendations were issued in BC.  I haven't taken the snowmobile out since.  I'm practicing what I preach.
