Balmy

Overnight low -9C, daytime high of 4C.

What a great day.  Mostly sunny with light, swirly clouds throughout the day.  The lake is showing a few wet patches, so I didn't venture out.  Gilligan Lake looked great though.

After drilling a few test holes, I felt confident enough to strap on the skates.  The ice was in perfect condition.  Though a light 1/2" coating of snow on top was enough of a deterrent to take be extremely cautious, after a few laps I ventured out further and further.  Everywhere I drilled, it was about the same thickness (approx. 3.5").  By the end, I had not concerns about skating anywhere except the inflow and outflow areas of the lake.  Just need a stick and a puck now :)
